Calithorned Weed

In two years California will most likely get another shot at passing and legalizing weed on the state level wholesale. It seemed very close to acceptance this year but didn't make it through, either due to voters not wanting it or due to rigging by the powers that be. The whole ordeal once it goes through will be an interesting catalyst for the rest of the country. I wish it happened already to see the ramifications but unfortunately it did not. Below is a video of some of the impact until now and certain historical parallels between alcohol prohibition and legalizing weed.

The discplacement of consumer preferences between alcohol, tobacco is one thing, but it is far more likely to impact certain oil and additive protein producers, we just don't know whom they are because it is unimportant to us. In some way every actor in the market be it wine, pharmaceuticals, whole food additive and protein providers, all have something to looze and gain from an entry into the market. The problem is risk wise all of them try to mitigate it and do not want their existing models threatened, which is understandable but foolish. Precisely because those who modernize and look into the future will be ahead of the curve and will dominate once the shift occurs. It will become a self fullfilling prophecy for those who choose not to deal with the issue and get behind it, pretending that they can keep postponing and banning it from the market indefinetely. In two years they may be very wrong.
